Since offering our first workshop and then, a few days later, opening the PopCred Network for blog hosting, I’ve been asked a number of times if we will accept personal checks or cash. Some people don’t have a PayPal account. Some can’t remember how to access or use it. In all these cases the answer has been the same.
The answer is no.
There are two reasons I won’t deal with cash or checks — and insist on PayPal. One is all about us, the other is all about you.
- Record Keeping
Accepting checks is a risky proposition. Over the past 20 years doing ecommerce, I’ve had far more problems (and expenses) with checks (and bounced checks) than with credit card transactions. But that aside, getting an online payment in an online forum, automates most of the record keeping. The transaction is in digital form, the inventory count is depleted, the money is deposited.
- Blogging Success
If you’re serious about making money with you blog, then you must have PayPal account. Why? Because most companies will pay you through PayPal. Some offer other choices, but many do not. You will be severely limited in your ability to make money online without a PayPal account.
Remember, if you charge your customers with PayPal, you aren’t forcing them to use a credit card. They can use a bank withdrawal or balance transfer. And they don’t even have to open a PayPal account. The system is very flexible and secure.
If you want to make money with your blog, you’re going to need a PayPal account. Get started on the right foot and sign up.
