CommentLuv: Get Link Love for Your Blog

ComLuvNow that you’re giving link love to your readers, it’s time to get some back for your own blog! Just register at CommenLuv and you’ll have your pick of blog posts to promote when you comment on other blogs.

Follow these easy steps:

Go to CommentLuv.

Click on Create a New Account in the Login area in the center of the page.

Enter a username and email address in the appropriate fields. Select the radio button for either Gimme a Blog! (if you want a free blog on the CommentLuv site) or Just a username, please. (The free blog will default as a subdomain using your username. For example, if my username is alphasmith, my free blog will have the URL http://alphasmith.commentluv.com/.) Click Next.

If you choose to get a free blog, change your domain name (if desired) and enter a blog title. Click Signup.

Check the email address you used for the activation email. When it comes, click on the activation link.

Check your email again (tedious, I know) for the confirmation. When you get this second email, click the Confirm link. Then, in the same email, click on URL Registration Page. This takes you back to the ComLuv members login page.

Now (deep breath) check your email again for a third email. (Seriously, can we streamline this?) Use the username and password from this email to login.

Finally you are on the ComLuv Member Page. Under Main URL, click the tiny Edit button.

In the dialogue box, enter your site URL and click Check URL. When it shows as available, click on Click to Register. Complete the rest of the form and click on Submit.

When the nonsensical dialogue box pops up that says,”Updated user Inserted source Inserted meta” (what the heck?), click OK. Just do it.

Now you’re ready to start using CommentLuv!

Alison, I signed up awhile back and its very a very handy service. I wasn’t willing to pay extra for additional blogs, so it would be nice to see them allow at least 2 or 3 for free.

Amen to that, Ileane. It’s not a terrible monetization plan, but I like the idea of charging for add-ons better. There are so many possibilities!

I also think they need to reevaluate their processes. There are a number of things that need to be cleaned up and/or streamlined.

I think I have lost a little bit of my love for CommentLuv with this new plan of theirs. I have been registered for quite a while, but it still will not pick up my latest blog post. It is several posts behind.

I may be scrapping it on my blog soon and just going to the default comment system. I’m just waiting to see if Andy comes to his senses and figures our another monetization plan. 😉

That’s really odd, Brad. CL seems to pick up my latest post almost immediately. I can’t recall how they are accessing the latest post. Is it from the site directly or through a feed?

What feed service are you using? I use FeedBurner. Wonder if that makes a difference.

It’s great to still see CommentLuv being talked about, it has to be one of my favourite plugins.

Very clear walk through Alison and, yes, a streamlining of the sign-up process would be beneficial (small gripe but gripe non-the-less). 🙂

    Regards,

    Karl

I’m not the one that signed up for blogs but I’m guessing the person that did it for me did it right because I always see my last blog posted and the heart at the end. So does that mean I’m getting backlinks and credit with google?
