31DBBB: Day #9 Join a Forum and Start Participating

Forum PostingThe 31DBBB day #8 task was an easy one to check off my to do list. The day #9 task is another simple assignment. I may make it to double digits yet!

Today I’m supposed to sign up for a forum that’s related to my site and start participating. I’ve been active in online forums since they were invented, so I fully intended follow the alternate assignment of spending 10–15 minutes in a forum I’m already part of. But when I happened upon a new forum that is a good fit for my life change blog — completely accidentally — I decided to join up after all. Then I spent about 20 minutes reading and posting.

One of the key benefits of forum posting comes when other participants can easily find you and your blog from your posts. So once registered, I immediately set up a a profile and signature. Whenever I post, links to my sites show up at the bottom of my comment.

I appreciate having some simple tips thrown in the challenge along the way. Finally feel like I’m making a dent in the program.

I agree with you Alison, forums can be a big time traffic getter. I too have joined a lot of forums and actively participate in them

These have been around for so long that it almost seems “old school,” but it’s still useful. It was a good reminder to me. Thanks for the input, Netchunks.

Alison, I’m a member of Lisa Irby’s forum http://WebsiteBabble.com It’s a good way to get traffic – true. But it’s also a good way to learn what’s going on in other corners of the internet. The blogging area is where I like to hang out but it’s also pretty cool to do site reviews. It’s “no holds barred” and you get to watch a site owner take in feedback and transform their shabby little site into a place that’s really worth visiting.

I met a lot of folks there that are Blog Engagers now.

    Thanks for lesson #9.

    Hi Alison

I have been forum posting for a while now and I have to say it has been a great experience, not only I am sharing my expertise and advice, its an excellent way of getting really good tips and advice for yourself.

The more good advice you give, the more likely people will click on your signature and visit your website.

Dana, that’s a great case study. If anyone is interested, just google “angela’s backlinks.”

Avis, glad it’s been a good tool for you. Thanks for stopping by!

I think it’s important to choose the right forum, one that has both a good fit with one’s main focus and also plenty of people to connect with.

I always look at the return on investment of my time.

Most forums don’t bring me much luck so far. How do you find a good one?

    Hi Alison,

This is something that was suggested to me last week. “Adam @ selling manager ebay” told me about Warrior Forum and Digital Point, which I intend to visit today.

And, now thanks to Ileane (who’s blog is really great), I will be visiting WebsiteBabble.com as well.

That 31 days book looks like it may be worth reading. Thanks for the tip!

    Have a great day!

Most people that earn money being an affiliate sign up with several Affiliate Programs. In fact, its possible you have to understand several before you find people who will make you as much as possible. Probably the most important points to consider when you will decide to promote products as an affiliate is to choose worthwhile products. If you wouldn’t buy it or have any use for it chances are your customers won’t either. Remember, even though you’re selling via the internet and not in person, whether you truly believe in the products you are promoting will show through in your marketing efforts. Choose products that you truly believe in if you’re going to persuade others to buy them.
